RTITB accredits this forklift instructor training course. This means our forklift instructor course is compliant with their rigorous training standards. Instructor Training Requirements

To attend the RTITB instructor training, you must first obtain a basic operator certificate for counterbalance forklift trucks. Your certification must be from within a year of the course start date. If you already have a basic operator certification for different machinery, you can meet the course requirements through a counterbalance conversion course.

Before attending the RTITB instructor training you must have a valid basic operator certification for counterbalance forklifts dated within a year of the course start date. You must also have a 6 months of operating experience.

Do You Provide Other Accredited Forklift Instructor Training?

Yes, we also provide forklift instructor training accredited by AITT and ITSSAR. Alongside this, we provide in-house forklift instructor training.

When Will My RTITB Instructor Qualification Expire?

All forklift instructor training accredited by RTITB expires after 5 years.

AITT Accredited Forklift Instructor Training

HL Training’s forklift instructor training course is a 10-day AITT accredited programme. It will teach you the skills to share your knowledge and train others to operate counterbalance forklifts and other machinery. The course consists of two core components. The first part will ensure you are a capable forklift operator. The second will centre around training you to instruct others. The course is delivered by accredited trainers with years of experience. Our training team are well versed in operating forklifts and training, and have a wealth of knowledge to share in both areas.

Our AITT instructor training uses a comprehensive curriculum to ensure you are fully trained in all necessary areas. We will begin with the principles of operating a forklift truck. This will ensure you are qualified to operate forklifts and lift trucks in line with codes of practices. AITT Accreditation

The Association of Industrial Truck Trainers is a nationally recognised governing body of material handling equipment training. They are the fastest-growing accrediting body in the material handling equipment training sector. AITT are a non-profit organisation focused on maintaining the highest training standards for operators, tutors and examiners within the workplace transport and equipment handling industry.

Instructor Training Requirements

In order to attend the AITT forklift instructor training, you must have a basic operations certificate for counterbalance forklifts. This must be dated within twelves months of the course’s start date. If you are qualified with other machinery such as reach trucks, you can meet the course prerequisites with a counterbalance conversion course.

In House and Accredited Forklift Instructor Training

In-House or ITSSAR Accredited Forklift Instructor Training – Week Commencing 13th April 2015

Do you need candidates trained on a variety of mean, to use either at a specific site – or nationally?


We are running both an In-House and an ITSSAR Accredited forklift instructor course NEXT WEEK. We have very limited spaces available, so if you are interested – contact us TODAY so we can book you in.

Forklift Instructor Training
The forklift instructors course is based on instructing on a counterbalance forklift truck and a basic operator certificate is required, however if you currently hold a basic operator certificate for another machine, such as reach truck, you can undertake the counterbalance course to qualify.

Do I need In-House or ITSSAR Accredited Instructor Training?

Non accredited In House Forklift Instructor training is for candidates who are required to complete training of company employees and issue in house certificates. Candidates will become responsible for conducting in-house training and skills assessments.

ITSSAR Accredited Forklift Instructor Training is aimed at candidates who are employed by a single ITSSAR Accredited organistation. ITSSAR Accredited Instructors can also deliver In-House training as mentioned above.
